I grew up knee-deep in nature. My dad was a naturalist, and we lived off the land when ever the seasons were in—hunting, fishing, and treating the earth with a deep respect. I came from a religious family, but in our household, littering was the absolute worst sin you could possibly commit.

Man and Land is my ongoing, lifelong study of that relationship—a visual look at our natural environment and the heavy, lasting marks mankind leaves behind on it. I’m incredibly proud that a selection of these images was chosen by the Lucie Foundation to be included in the “100 Images That Changed the World” international exhibition, traveling globally to millions of people. But at its core, this project is just a continuation of the way I was taught to see the world as a boy.
